Commander Letter

From: Commander VFW Post 2010

My name is Franklin Stewart and I am the Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander for Post 2010. I was born and raised in Cameron, and after 35 years away I have returned here to retire.

While in the service, one of my posts was to serve as Radio Officer for Fixed Communications at Eighth U.S. Army Headquarters in Seoul Korea. After leaving the service I had careers at LTV Continental Electronics and in management at Halliburton Corporation in Dallas.

I have been a VFW member for over 10 years and a member of Post 2010 for 4 years.  Our Post is recognized locally and nationally for our financial heColor photograph of Franklin Stewart in the postlp to many organizations and to the VFW National Home in Michigan for children of veterans.

Listed below are many of the organizations we have donated to in the last several months. I am especially proud of donations to our Military Assistance Program. The MAP program helps active duty service people in many ways. One example is a serviceman who was severely wounded in Iraq and is recovering in hospitals such as Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. The family of this veteran may run short of money and badly need help. VFW Posts such as ours are ready to step in and help.

Example of organizations and causes we support includes:

Boy Scouts

Cameron Softball League

Little League Baseball

Milam County Sheriff's Office

Voice of Democracy scholarships

Cameron's Yoe High School

Cameron's Yoe High School Band Booster Club

Meals on Wheels

Cameron's Chamber of Commerce

Cameron's Chamber of Commerce Toys for Tots

Milam County Extension Service

Milam County Livestock Show and Jr. Livestock Show

Milam County Diabetes Clinic

Milam Community Theater

Patriot's Pen contest bonds

Military Assistance Program

Operation Uplink

Cameron's Elementary School flags

Cameron's City Library flags

James Wall Benefit Fund

Youth Fishing Tournament

VFW National Home

Please join us in supporting these and other fine organizations. We are proud of our service to them and to our community.

In comradeship,

/s/ Franklin Stewart
