Frequent Questions

The following are common questions.

Q: How do I join the VFW?

A: Once eligibility has been established, joining is easy. Contact the post or any member to obtain an application (our preferred method, since we'd like to welcome you personally) or go to the National VFW web site. Regardless of the method, we welcome you!

Q: Why should I join anyway?

A: We are the veterans' advocate and have helped make today's veterans' benefits a reality. Your support helps us continue on that path. Membership in the VFW entitles you to a free $1,000/$1,500 personal accident protection policy; personal assistance securing government benefits and entitlements for veterans; discounts on car rentals and hotel stays; and substantial insurance discounts, including pet insurance. In addition, you also receive a free subscription to VFW Magazine and enables you to join the Pentagon Federal Credit union.

Q: May the general public attend events?

A: Absolutely. Join us for any public or youth event.

Q: How does my child participate in a youth event?

A: Check for eligibility, dates, and details. We welcome all youth.

Q: How do I get to the post?

A: See and print our map for specific directions.

Q: Is the post wheelchair accessible?

A: Yes. We have designated parking, low sloping ramps, and wide doorways.

Q: How do I rent the post?

A: See and print our information, view sample floor layouts, and make an appointment.

Q: Who's in charge here?

A: Everyone contributes to the post. If you have a question or specific issue, contact any of our post officers or Ladies Auxiliary leaders.

Q: I am a frustrated veteran with a problem needing an advocate.  Can you help?

A: Yes, contact us (we even have a post advocate) or see our points of contact, people whom we use when there are problems.

Q: How do I find out about Missing and Unaccounted for Service Members?

A: Ask us! This is a concern and project in which we are very involved.

Q: Why don't your Adobe Acrobat items open for me?

A: You probably have multiple versions of Adobe Acrobat installed. Check their troubleshooting page on this topic.
