The VFW is again in the forefront of patriotism as the organization and our post finds ways to show support for America and her armed forces. Our nation has thousands of active-duty and reservists, along with the National Guard, serving overseas. In this regard, VFW Post #2010 proudly supports the Military Assistance Program (MAP).
From adopting military units to donating TV-VCR units for American soldiers in Bosnia, the Veterans of Foreign Wars is continuing in its benevolence to others by providing moral and financial support to military service members worldwide. Our local post donates to the state fund for this purpose.
Texas has given $120,000 to assist the military with problems of lifts for wheelchairs, house payments, food, and the last one was for a burial of a 3-year old son (father in Bosnia). The Department of Texas averages $3,000 a week for grants. This is a program we can support here at home.
We also provide prepaid telephone cards and care packages directly to our Cameron-hometown troops overseas in the military.
VFW is there to help, and if a veteran is in particular need of assistance, we hope they will contact us. We are here to help.
In 2006 we had a special fundraiser and donated $1,000 to this great cause.
