Youth Events

Who has youth has the future. And the benevolence of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Auxiliary extends well beyond the realm of veterans helping veterans. Our VFW members mentor youth, act as a resource for school teachers, work with Boy Scouts; the list goes on.

Our goals are simple: to enhance patriotic and civic pride and also to improve our Milam County community. Whether providing scholarships to youth or helping a child learn to fish for the first time, the VFW is there honoring the dead by helping the living.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of students participate nationwide in the Voice of Democracy Scholarship Competition and the Patriot's Pen Essay Contest, garnering more than $3.4 million in scholarships and incentives.

Our Post #2010 members are very active. We're in schools, Boy Scout troops, and community organizations. From school bus safety to supporting scholarships, we are there.

By providing leaders, funding, sponsorships and other resources, our VFW and its Auxiliary encourages Milam County's children and young adults to attain higher ideals and greater personal achievement.
